Book Club

Join us for our summer book club!

We will meet Thursday evenings at 7pm either in person or over zoom.

Cole Arthur Riley is the creator of the Instagram account Black Liturgies, “a space where Black words live in dignity, lament, rage and hope”.

In This Here Flesh, Riley’s first book, she invites us to explore questions about dignity, belonging, rage and rest through story.

As a black disabled woman, Riley teaches us that is important to push against disembodiment, especially in white intellectual spaces. She teaches us to resist a spirituality where the hierarchy of the mind is the path to God.

She opens us up to spiritual practices that help us feel God’s presence with us, in our bodies. This is a sacred and important practice to learn, and one we will begin to learn together as we go through her book together.
